Bible Story: This week,we head to Acts 16:16-40 to discover what happens when Paul and Silas were arrested. They could have given up their calling to spread the message of Jesus. However, even in the middle of this difficult situation they decided to worship God. And when the time came, they had the right words at the right time and helped the jailer and his family start a relationship with Jesus.

Bottom Line: You can choose joy when life gets hard. We will all face times when life is hard. How we respond to those situations matters. When we start to understand the importance of choosing joy, we can point others to Jesus.

Key Question: Why is it worth it to keep going? Having perseverance can be hard. While you’re in the middle of it, it’s hard to imagine why any of the difficulties are worth it. It’s important to start thinking about and articulating why it’s worth it to have perseverance when life gets hard.

Extra Memory Verse: “But I want you to keep your head no matter what happens. Don’t give up when times are hard. Work to spread the good news. Do everything God has given you to do.” 2 Timothy 4:5, NIrV

Widget:

A Widget is a cool, concrete, take-home item for families to use. This item is given to elementary students each month.  It will aid in reminding them what is taught in DV on the weekend and assist in the retention of the Bible lessons as kids grow in Christ. This month, kids will receive a Perseverance sweat band. This will help them remember that even when life gets tough, they can wipe the sweat off their brow and refuse to give up because of the power of God in them. Click HERE to check it out!
