We all have a lot of “stuff” ! On the weekend of Sept. 30-Oct. 1, the new virtue- Stewardship, is introduced. This will be a starting point for kids to learn that taking care of what you have is important because it all belongs to God.
It’s October and we are starting the month with something David wrote in Psalm 24:1, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.” What David wrote at the start of this Psalm is an important reminder. As we head into a month talking about stewardship, we want kids to focus on the Creator and how everything big and small, seen and unseen, belongs to God.
Bottom Line: Remember, everything belongs to God. Have you ever stopped to think about how much stuff we all have? All of “this stuff”, is housed in and around our homes, but is actually only on loan to us. It’s difficult for a child to understand that their Lego set or video game is not theirs, but actually Gods. Be sure to take time to discuss this concept with your child. Using the GodTime pack (parent take home tool) is a good way to review what is taught on the weekend. It’s important for us to model the act of stewardship for our kids; remembering everything belongs to God is choosing to use what we have wisely.

GodTime cards are available each month and are a tool to assist parents as they help their child have “God Time” each week. Here’s how: There are four different devotions on each GodTime card. Each one is designed to be done on a different day. Click below to see this week’s GodTime card.

A Widget is a cool, concrete, take-home item for families to use. This item is given to elementary students each month. It will aid in reminding them what is taught in DV on the weekend and assist in the retention of the Bible lessons as kids grow in Christ. Click below to read more about October’s Widget!
