Parents of to be Kindergarteners,  As your four and five year old prepares for Kindergarten, get ready for some cultural adjustments.  There will be less play time, more early morning alarm clocks, and a higher demand for focused attention. While kids at this age thrive on routine and predictability, they also crave opportunities to have a little unstructured play, a chance to skip and run, to throw and catch, and to use their imagination. Things will change, just be prepared to adjust. It’s just a phase.  –Reggie Joiner The ReThink Group

The Story

Josiah becomes king at just eight years old and leads the people to do what God wants them to.

What would you do if you were an eight year old and appointed to be king? This is what happened to Josiah. His father, Amon disobeyed God and worshiped idols. When Amon was removed from the kingdom, the officials made Josiah their king. He ruled for thirty one years. He did what was pleasing and right in the Lord’s sight.

Parents,  ask your preschooler if they were made king for a day, what would they do.  Maybe give them this opportunity. 🙂 Make  a crown and find a towel for a cape. Maybe they can choose the meal for dinner as well. When a decision is needing to be made about anything in the day, ask the king to help make the decision (within reason of course) This is a good time to insert lessons on being fair etc.  Have fun !

SUMMER SERVICE PROJECT:  Also, this is a great time to remind you all about our summer missions project.  We are collecting items for kids in our city.  Stop by the welcome center for a complete list or to pick up a card with a specific item on it.  Items include towels, devotionals, bibles, snacks, coloring and craft supplies to name a few.
